Set in Montgomery in 1959, this play delves into the heart of Alabama's history, exploring themes of belonging, identity, and the fight to protect one's home and heritage. When a state senator discovers The Rabbit’s Wedding, a children’s picture book, is about a black rabbit and a white rabbit getting married, he sets out to fire the state librarian protecting it. Meanwhile, a chance meeting between childhood friends, one white and one black, forces them to recall, confront, and reconcile their complicated past.

Entry fees in this year’s contest are $25 for each work submitted(up to three works of art per artist) and $10 submission for children's art and each entry includes one ticket to the exhibit and reception, as well as one vote for the People’s Choice Award. Event-only tickets (no artwork entered) will be available for $20 and include a People’s Choice vote. The event will include catered hors d’oeuvres, and each ticket holder will receive two drink tickets. Tickets are available through Tallapoosa Publishers, Inc., at 548 Cherokee Rd., Alexander City or call Linda Ewing at 256-234-4281. The event is a benefit for DPAC programs.
